A day in the hostel, screen by screen
Five moments from one Friday in a hostel block, on the screens each person uses.
A student asks to go home for the weekend.
She applies from the app with her dates, a leave type and a reason. If the dates overlap a request she already has, it is refused before it is sent.
The warden approves it.
The request appears for the staff who handle leave in her block. Approval takes one click and is recorded against the person who gave it.
The fan in Room 214 stops working.
She reports it from the same app. Staff acknowledge the request, start the work and mark it complete, and each status change shows in her app.
The office imports a new intake.
Forty students arrive from an Excel sheet. Every row is shown for review before anything is saved, and an unrecognised branch name is mapped once for all the rows that use it.
The evening count closes.
Residents check in on the biometric device as they return, and each punch is matched to a student and block. When the window closes, the student who left this morning is counted as on leave, and her parent sees the same status.
